GMI Corporation’s commitment to the community goes beyond being the best precision production contract manufacturer in the area. At GMI, an employee-owned company, our staff works throughout the year to support the community in its Johnson County backyard as well as families in Mexico who need a place to call home.

Project Possible at GMI was founded in 2018 as a coordinated charitable effort opportunity for employees. A steering committee of 10 dedicated employees meets regularly throughout the year to coordinate charitable activities and fundraisers that benefit local projects. All employees can participate by supporting the fundraisers and assisting as needed.

The highlight of the year is mission trip to Mexico, where steering committee volunteers work with Youth With a Mission Homes of Hope International.  During the weeklong adventure, volunteers work to build a 16’x20’ home for a family who is used to sleeping on a dirt floor. Each steering committee employee brings one guest on the trip, which is fully funded by GMI Corporation.

Charity begins at home

While the mission trip is the highlight of the Project Possible year, other smaller charitable efforts occur each month to benefit local organizations and charities. The project benefits are twofold – they support our neighbors in Johnson County and neighboring areas, and they offers employees a chance to participate in a fun activity devised by their colleagues. For instance, the Project Possible steering committee organized a Memorial Day cookout on site at GMI, where employees could skip their frozen dinners and box lunches and enjoy something hot and delicious from the grill. The effort raised $565 for the Indy Honor Flight, which helps transport WWII, Korean and Vietnam War veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the memorials.

Something as simple as a bake sale, breakfast, chili cookoff or blood drive can powerfully impact the community as well as the GMI Corporation family. This year’s local Project Possible recipients include:
