The founders of Suros Surgical started a new company, NICO Corporation, and employed GMI Corporation to co-develop and manufacture an electromechanical drivetrain for their brain and spinal surgery device. Via a minimally invasive approach, the device removes tumors from deep inside the brain without cutting large holes or separating sections of the skull. In addition, GMI developed a quantitative force tester to simulate the devices usage in the operating room that is used to 100% test all drivetrains before shipment to the customer. GMI has earned a strong relationship with the NICO team members and continues to work with them on developing further components to add as options for the surgeons using this device.
